We all know 0-60 mph and 0-100 kph times don’t matter at all, but we still judge cars based on their times. So where do you like your stoplight stomper times to fall around? Feel free to list for different vehicle types because I know how pedantic you lot like to get.
Personally, no matter the vehicle, I love me a 4.4 - 5.2 seconds 0-60 mph time (that’s probably like 4.6 - 5.6 seconds 0-100 kph).

From a stop? I want stupid crazy insanity fast. The more faster the better...but...what I really want is good midrange power that doesn’t quit at 5000 rpm. I could give up crazy launches if I got back effortless mid and high end power.

my civic does high 6 to 7 second, my.old impreza was painful at nearly 12. so somewhere in between those is good enough to merge onto a highway

About the same as you, I’d say. My DD is high 5's, my wife’s is low 5's (despite them both being AWD, 4,000 lb., and 300 HP).
Hers feels about right to me, though I’d take a car just a bit quicker. So, I’d say ~4.7-5.3 seconds.

As low as possible.
And WHY did Datsun make the GTR look like a Maxima

Imo they made the Maxima look like the GTR. Not a bad thing if I do say so myself, I think the new Maxima is a handsome sedan, but they’re definitely not everyone’s cup of tea.

The 3.0 V8 in my E34 comes online at like 4,000 all the way to 6,000. It’s fun. But it only does 0-60 in like 7.5-8 seconds.

I would be perfectly fine with about 5 seconds. Anything under 10 is acceptable. Anything higher than 10 is case-by-case based on what the vehicle actually is.

Hammering an 8-second 0-60 car up to speed is better than doing 8 seconds to 60 in a car you know is good for 4 or less, so I’ll say 6-8 seconds makes for a fun daily drive with no risks. But if someone handed me the keys to a 911 Turbo I wouldn’t turn in down.

0-60 in never max speed 55mph for a safer more efficient future.

I love a low 4s time if the car keeps pulling all the way up. That’s why the S600 is so great. I can get to 60 in 4.3 sec, let off the gas, floor it again and break the tires loose.

3.5-4.0 is my sweet spot. Preferably not all in gearing.

Here’s my take on o-60s..
>20 sec is pretty slow, annoying even. Possibly slow enough to make merging in modern traffic difficult. Antique cars and 18-wheelers get a pass here, but only because physics.
20-12 sec is slow, but not really an issue as long as you aren’t in a hurry. modern pickup with a trailer should still be in the <20 category, and thats acceptable.
12-8 sec is “fine, just fine”.
8-6 sec is fast enough for any non-racing purpose, and amusing enough to keep me entertained.
<6 sec is faster than you need unless you're racing, not that I mind, I'm just sayin' you don't need it. Really, you *DON'T*.

As long as its under 10 seconds I am pretty good with it! I care more about power being somewhat linear and most importantly usable. I dont have much use for a dedicated track car so the power has to be autocross and street applicable.

12 seconds or less is just fine for me. My old GMC Safari did it in 13.4 and was juuuuust slow enough to be bothersome.

As a fan of small, underpowered ‘People’s Cars’ - especially 2-cyl air-cooled FIATS - my preferred 0-60 range is somewhere around “It doesn’t / barely does 60".

I’m generally satisfied with my Mazda3 (7.4 sec 0-60 - C&D), but the extra power my mom’s MKZ has (6.3 sec 0-60 - C&D) is welcome from time to time. So I’d say 6-7 seconds is my ideal range for a daily driver.
My Fiero (10+ sec 0-60) was just too slow and my Civic wasn’t much better.

As slow as possible, as fast as necessary. So over 7 seconds, but under ten.

100 kph=62 mph. So the times would be about the same.

Don’t care, street cars are transportation and driving in any way that you’d benefit from a ludicrous 0-60 time is not driving that should be done on public roads.

The fastest that I can afford. Currently that’s in the low 5s but I’m hoping it’s low 4s in a year or two.

I don’t know. My car does 60 in about 5 flat. I can *safely pull onto a 50mph road from a dead stop with a very minimal gap in heavy traffic. It’s fantastic.

I mean the extra creases and the weird chrome thing in the grille. Like the Maxima, Altima, Sentra... The old version looked far better. This just cheapens it. No matter how handsome the Maxima may be for a sedan, it doesn’t translate well here and kills it by association.
In the same way you wouldn’t want the Corvette to blatantly share cues with an Impala, or a 911 with a Golf.

6 seconds for most cars, or 2 the moment I buy an old Suzuki SX4 WRC car and rebuild it to 2017-spec.

Fair enough. I agree it does make it look a lot cheaper. And it’s definitely an overwrought design element. True, people complain about it enough with the whole Beetle -> Porsche -> Bugatti argument!

Would that be an Iron Duke with a 3-speed? Because that’s the power train I had in my Fiero and I definitely wouldn’t want to drive anything slower than that in traffic.

Below 7 seconds is completely reasonable and good. My current daily is below 5 if I’m on it, so that’s fun.

Sub 5 sec is good. But more then 0-60 the 50-70mph has to be good too.

Definitely 3 speed, but they didn’t have an Iron Duke... that would have been too good for a Chevette: http://chevette-forum.freeforums.net/thread/4/engine-specs
